Mariela Dujovne Melamed

Architect/ Photographer

  • Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Immigrated to New York in 1990.
  • Graduated from University of Buenos Aires, School of Architecture in 1989.  She has a Masters in Architecture and Urban planning.
  • StudiedPhotography at Westchester Art Workshop, and at ICP, The International Center of Photography.
  • She divides her time between Architecture and Photography.
  • She has practiced Architecture in the United States since 1990.
  • Works as a professional photographer since 1999.
  • Her work varies from very abstract to concrete themes.  From commercial to fine arts photography.
  • She uses the camera outdoors as well as indoors in her lighting studio.
  • She photographs, develops and prints her own work and has a vast dark room experience that she applies to the new world of digital photography.
  • One of her recent photographic work celebrates the female form in different stages of life. Mostly sculptural, these black and white, high contrast pictures express the unedited beauty of women.
  • Her current exhibit at the Flywheel Gallery “Images around the world” at the Flywheel Gallery is a mixture of beautiful everyday urban elements with some social criticism  “Lollipop in Jerusalem” “Priorities” and some abstract work like 'Deconstructing Gaudi- 1. 2 & 3'.
